The Ultimate List of Disability Scholarships

School can be difficult for everyone. Students with disabilities deal with added stressors in addition to the demands of their classes. Disability scholarships give us that extra boost we need to succeed. I have to take this upcoming year off of school because I can’t afford to go, so I’ve been combing through The Ultimate Scholarship Book, and I decided to put together a list of disability scholarships. If you know of any other disability scholarships, please let me know, and I’ll add them to the list!

1. ADHD College Scholarship Program

This scholarship is open to U.S. citizens who have been diagnosed with ADHD and are pursuing higher education. Deadline: May 21st

2. AG Bell College Scholarship Program

This scholarship is open to students who had bilateral hearing loss diagnosed before the age of 4. Students must have at least a 3.25 GPA. Deadline: March 20th

3. J.C. Runyon Moving Forward Scholarship

This scholarship is open to all students with behavioral health issues. The foundation offers help throughout the length of their program (4-16 semesters)! Applications open in late August.

4. Young Soloists Awards

This is one of the disability scholarships that is awarded to young musicians with a disability attending a college in the United States. Application date not listed.

5. P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship

Open to high-school seniors with financial need, a certified language-related learning difference, and artistic talent who plan a career in visual arts. Scholarships are potentially renewable for up to four years! Deadline: March 31st

6. Buckfire & Buckfire P.C. Disability Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship is “available to students of any age, with any type of disability, including but not limited to physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental or psychiatric conditions, speech and language, learning disabilities, behavioral conditions, and all other conditions.” Deadline: April 1st

7. Bernice McNamara Memorial Scholarship

Open to students aged 15-39 attending a four-year college or university and majoring in the sciences. Applicants must have a diagnosis of cancer or have a loved one diagnosed with cancer. Deadline: March 1st

8. Baer Reintegration Scholarship

Open to students who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizophreniform, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder and are active in their recovery. Application date not listed.

9. Boomer Esiason Foundation Scholarship Program

Open to students with cystic fibrosis who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees. Deadlines: March 30, June 29, September 28, December 28

10. Ann Denardo Memorial Scholarship

Open to students at the University of Alaska. Preference is given to students who have been treated for a serious mental illness. Deadline: December 2nd

11. Aptevo B More Scholarship

Open to students with hemophilia B who are pursuing post-secondary education. Deadline: May 3rd

12. Drake Davis Foundation Scholarship

Open to graduating high school seniors have outstanding leadership qualities and participate in community service. Applications now open.

13. Shire Education Advantage Scholarship Program

Open to students with hemophilia A or B. This scholarship provides financial aid for a wide variety of educational options, including four-year bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degrees, technical/vocational certifications, as well as the GED Test. Deadline: March 17th

14. AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability

This scholarship is awarded to a college student with a disability. The recipient must be a full-time student and have completed at least one year of college. Deadline: November 15th

15. Beth Carew Memorial Scholarship

Open to students with an inherited bleeding disorder, caregivers of a child or adult affected by a bleeding disorder, or persons with a sibling or parent in the same household affected by a bleeding disorder. Deadline: May 1st

16. JED Student Voice of Mental Health Award Application

This scholarship is open to college students who work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness on their college campus. Applications appear to always be open.

17. Flicker of Hope Foundation Scholarship

Open to high-school seniors, graduates, or college students with a burn injury. Deadline: June 1st

18. Guthrie-Koch PKU Scholarship

Open to undergraduate college students with PKU who are on a diet treatment. Deadline: October 15th

19. Little People of America Scholarships

Open to undergraduate and graduate students of short stature and their families. Deadline: April 30th

20. National MS Society Scholarship Program

Open to high-school seniors or graduates who have multiple sclerosis and will be attending college for the first time. Deadline: January 15th

21. Scholarships for Survivors

Open to students under the age of 25 who have been diagnosed with cancer or another life-threatening illness. Deadline: February 24th

22. Sertoma Scholarships for Students Who Are Hard Of Hearing Or Deaf

Open to college students with a minimum 40dB bilateral hearing loss. Deadline: May 1st

23. Communicative Disorders Scholarship

Open to graduate students studying speech-language pathology and/or audiology at a
college or university in the United States, accredited by ASHA’s Council on Academic
Accreditation. Deadline: June 30th
