Crystal Healing: A Quick Guide To 8 Popular Crystals

My grandmother has been into crystal healing for as long as I can remember. She has large quartz crystal and little crystals sprinkled around her house, something I always thought of as an accessory. When I read about crystal healing recently, I was skeptical. My stress was at an all-time high, though. What could I lose?

Crystal Healing Works Well With Traditional Healing

Before getting started, I did some research of my own. I was surprised to learn that crystals actually do work together well with traditional healing methods. While they can be a natural alternative, you can also use them to supplement traditional medicine (which is what I do). Crystals have gotten more popular lately, and I suspect a lack of access to healthcare is a contributor. While the larger crystals can be more expensive, most of the small to mid-size crystals I have cost me $1 to $4.

It’s been such a surprise to see how crystal healing has helped me through a stressful time in my life, as well as pushed me through my creative block and eased the pain of my migraines. If you’re just getting started, I recommend the basics: quartz crystal (especially smoky quartz), selenite, and amethyst. One thing to note is that just like many medications, crystals are not a cure. They simply help with symptoms.

Like all healing methods, crystal healing can cause side effects. Some crystals may not work well with your energy. Others will feel like a long-lost friend. Just remember to take it slow and listen to your intuition. If something feels off, it probably is. Either cleanse your crystal of bad energy or not use it at all. Below I’ve listed some of the main crystals and their uses. Make sure not to use more than 5 stones at a time so that your body and mind do not get overwhelmed.
