When it comes to self-care, I tend to focus on the mind and spirit. I forget the importance of caring for my body. When I do talk about physical activity, the focus is on how exercise helps the mind by warding off depression, relieving stress, and keeping us mindful.
But what about the physical benefits? Self-care is a three-pronged approach, including mind, spirit, AND body. Even a moderate exercise like the one in this challenge can increase your life expectancy if you do it weekly!
For this week’s challenge, I’m using the Physical Activity Tracker in the free Health Storylines app. I’m going to set the level of physical activity to moderate and the duration for about 20 minutes.
Self-Care Challenge 4: Let’s Get Physical!
- For the next five days, pick a time every day to do a short workout! Start by loosening up and stretching your muscles.
Next, do five sets of ten jumping jacks and five lunges for each leg.
Now we’re going to jog for 12 minutes, taking a break to walk for 2 minutes every five minutes. You can do it!
